Sugar Hill

What skills in addition to photography did Melanie Burford utilize to produce this slideshow?.... the photographer used techniques like lines, filling the frame , the rule of thirds and to in order to create that intencity of the over all project the photographer definatley captured Discusion to create ethos.

What was the effect (added power or meaning) of the multimedia effects of the slideshow.

I believe the over all effect of the slide show was the background voice over and the the song that the woman is singing . Also the photos that nicely symblizes with the music and voice over, especially since all the photos and voice of the slide show was all from SUGAR HILL! It gives it depth and meaning , ethos , Logos , pathos

From viewing all the other slide shows , I believe the most interesting process of multimedia is the over all story and how multimedia helps you build that nicely by fadeing each picture into the next photo that each tells a signifagent story , haveing the music in the background all at the same time.

Valerie first photo shoot experience

  1. What challenges did you encounter while trying to get close, capture real moments, and capture action or emotion? How did you deal with these?

  • The chalenges that I encountered while trying to get close was to actually have the couarage to take picture of people I didn't know , trying to be out of there way of there work. With my photo shoot , I really didn't capture that much Action or emotion exept the fact that they wree all consintrateing on the computers and there projects trying to make there robots move. I dealt with this by getting to know some of the students that were working asking what it was they were doing and trying to accomplish.

  1. What technical aspects of photography (focus, exposure, composition) did you find yourself thinking about the most, and how did you make sure you did these correctly?
  • I found myself thinking more about the focus and exposure other than composition , In order for me to do this correctly I made sure that my lense was in good foucus on my subjects that I was taking a picture of.
  1. Describe how you attempted to use at least one of the advanced composition techniques when you shot.
  • the advanced composition techniques I tried to use was the techniques with lines. There was a tool set placed on the table were the students were working and I moved to were i could see the yellow lines of the lid of the tool box to create leading lines towards the students.

SPORTS SHOT

  • :Focal length of lens - Shot with: Canon EOS-1D, EF 70-200mm

  • Shutter Speed -, shot at 1/640 f/2.8 ..

  • What is the effect of shooting at this shutter speed? The effect of the shooting at this shutter speed is to capture the ACTION that took place in the split secound...with the combination of his antisapated movement and the correct camera lens

  • Aperture-Shot with: 2.8L IS USM zoom,

  • What is the effect (Depth of field) of shooting at this aperture? Since the only focuse in this picture is the actuall football player in the air... being that the rest including the background is out of focuse the apture would be a SMALL APERTURE!.... being that it is dark and so there for giveing the player with the football more focuse and more depth, consintrating on him the subject of this picture.

  • Position : I believe that to photographer was stand at the pretty close to the side lines near the touchdown of this foot ball players destination . the photoghraper abserved earler games and teckniques of and this Game was prepared for this shot...

Discussion

Discussion : Just by abserving this photo you can already see the main discussion of how whats being taken shot of. Being that most of the city in this picture including the main focus of the twin towers with even the next plane about to hit, haveing the discussion of whats going to happen next. the shodows of the building and the lighting of sky give the photo an eary kind of feeling of tragety!

the rule of thirds

The rule of thirds..... : the rule of thirds applies to this photo being that the flag is in the center , part of the torn up building in the upper left hand quarter, and the dust and dabrise in the upper left hand quarter. following the the rule of thirds with also a shodow of what seems to be another part of a broken up building in the downer left hand quarter.

Avoiding merges

Avoiding merges : due to the HIghlighted yellow and the american flag bandana, those elements of this photo separates the anything from merging avoiding any blending of one subject to another. the over all colors of this photo allows this photo to avoid any merging!

Frameing

FRAMEING : this picture has a strong feeling of depthe because within the frame this solder is holding his weapon , looking at the sky , a building behind him with the clouds and the tree branch all in this frame being and emotion stanza to the photo of justic. everything just fits the frame real well.

simplicity

SIMPLICITY: Being that the flags are on the ground standing out from the rest of the photo but in focus as well ...being the center of interest leading to the solder with a axe witch is also a center of interest due to the flags beneath the solder.

BALANCE

Balance!!!
in this photo the statue of liberty gives the american flag balance as its positioned to the left of the photo with the flag being being on the top with a slanted lines. but being that the statue of liberty is there on the left help balance the flag. giveing it a feeling of how americans really stand for liberty.

Lines

LINES

. in this photo the sky scraper that leads the eyes to the man thats holding the newpaper. giveing the picture an over all depth to how high this paticular building is by the horazontal and diagonal lines from the windows on this building.
